STAR Events

STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) is a chance for members to stretch their wings and try something new. Students choose from a wide variety of topics to compete in ranging from Recycle and Redesign to the Culinary Arts. Students prepared weeks in advance and practiced their oral presentations with advisers and friends. The Region 4 competition was held on January 27th at BYU. Everyone who competed moved onto State!
After regionals the members took the feedback given to them by the judges and applied them to their projects making them better than ever. On March 10th we traveled to the Davis County Convention Center in Layton where members presented their projects in front of a new panel of judges. The State Conference was a two event where members where able to interact with members from all over the state, hear from motivational speakers, and attend leadership workshops.
Nichole Bishop, Crystal Balter, and Katie De Karver won in the Chapter in Review Portfolio category and get an all expenses paid trip to Washington DC in July to compete at the National FCCLA Convention. Many other members placed 2nd and qualify to go to nationals if they are able to pay their own way.
Thanks to all the members who competed and the advisers who made it possible!
